Celtic Offer Ransford Osei Short-Term Deal

Bloemfontein Celtic have offered Ghana international forward Ransford Osei a six-month contract. Osei has impressed coach Clinton Larsen while on trial with the Absa Premiership side over the past few months. But doubts linger over his long-term fitness after numerous problems in the past two years that have stunted a once promising career. For that reason the club have offered Osei the chance to prove his fitness over the next six months in the second half of the South African season and should he come through that unscathed, will offer him a longer-term deal. Osei was rated as one of the brightest young stars in Africa when he finished as runner-up in the goal-scoring stakes at the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup that was hosted in South Korea. That led to interest from a number of top European sides, but he has since suffered recurring injury problems that have stunted his development. He was last on the books of current Spanish La Liga side Granada on loan from Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa. But now after recuperating for three months in a Durban hospital last year after yet more knee problems, the 21-year-old tried his luck with Celtic as he seeks to get his career back on track.
