Passengers who travel from Wa to Tumu by the Wa-Bolgatanga Metro Mass Transit buses are complaining of paying double fares to board the buses to Tumu. They said the situation was so because there was no early morning bus specifically plying the Wa-Tumu road thereby forcing passengers to board the Wa-Bolgatanga bus alight at Tumu after being compelled to pay the Bolgatanga fare. Mr. Moses Dramani Luri, Executive Director of the Sissala Literacy and Development Programme, told the GNA that the situation was affecting productivity and growth of businesses as many people who wished to travel in the morning from Wa to Tumu to transact their businesses and possibly return were not able to do so. Mr. Luri said workers who came to Wa to spend the weekends and return on Monday morning to catch up with work at Tumu were also affected. He appealed to the regional authorities of the Metro Mass Transit to put an early morning bus on the Wa-Tumu road to address the situation. Mr. Mohammed Adariwei, the Wa Metro Station Accountant, told the GNA that they sympathised with the plight of the passengers and explained that the situation arose because there was a shortage of buses. He said the route would be considered when the station received new buses.
