Lieutenant General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has assured Ghanaian troops on peace mission in Cote d� Ivoire of the full support of the Government and the Military High Command. This, he said would enable them to operate professionally and effectively in the mission. Lt Gen Blay gave the assurance when he interacted with the contingent during a durbar at Bondoukou. A statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces Public Relations Directorate said the CDS was on a seven-day visit to the UN Peacekeeping Operation in La Cote d�Ivoire (UNOCI). Gen Blay expressed appreciation about the compliments the contingent had received from both the civilian and military leadership of UNOCI, saying it made him feel very good. �They spoke so highly of you. They spoke of your comportment, they spoke of your professionalism, they spoke of the hard work, your commitment to the duties that you are here for,� he said. He commended them for their high performance since they were inserted into the mission in August 2011 and especially their sterling performance during the recent legislative elections and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the local population. While thanking the troops for making Ghana and the Ghana Armed Forces proud, Gen Blay urged them to continue to lift high the national flag, and remain at the high pedestal they had shot themselves up to and never lower their guard.
