24-Year-Old Man Remanded For Stealing 2,950 Cedis

A Tarkwa circuit court has remanded in to police custody Owusu Aikins, a 24-year-old illegal gold digger, for stealing 2,950 Ghana cedis. He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on January 24. Police Prosecuting Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant, Audrey Tidarim, is a business woman who owns a store at Kedawen in Tarkwa where she rents canopies and plastic chairs. He said on December 20 last year she went to her store and while preparing to travel to Accra one of her workers delivered 1,550 Ghana cedis to her and she put it in her bag and handed it over to her 10-year-old son Justices King Polley. The Prosecutor said the accused was spotted monitoring the movement of the complainant, sneaked into the store immediately she left, snatched the bag containing 2,950 Ghana cedis and took to his heels. The boy chased him and shouted thief, thief, forcing Aikins to throw the bag on the ground but he was arrested with the help of people.
