Arsenal v Man United...Rio & Thierry In Fitness Fight

THIERRY HENRY and Rio Ferdinand are both doubts for tomorrow's Emirates crunch. Hitman Henry is battling to make it as Arsenal bid to avenge their 8-2 drubbing at Manchester United in August. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed: "He has a calf problem. He will have a test on Saturday." United centre-back Ferdinand's long-term back injury has flared up again. Ferdinand, 33, felt a pull in training on Thursday. He complained of pain after a routine challenge. Ferdinand was quickly sent for a scan which revealed it was the same trouble which has dogged him in recent seasons. Ferdinand has a problem at the base of his back, leaving him in agony and struggling for mobility. He missed yesterday's session at United's Carrington base. And although physios will continue to work with him today, they are wary of the long-term repercussions if he is not right. The problem resurfaced after medical staff put Ferdinand through stringent tests to make sure he had recovered from a bang on the head in last week's win over Bolton. Ferdinand's back issues have led to calf and hamstring problems. He appeared to be managing better this season, playing in 20 games. Jonny Evans is set to replace Ferdinand in a United backline which is already missing crocked skipper Nemanja Vidic for the season. Henry, 34, suffered a calf injury in training. The French striker has featured in Arsenal's last two games after arriving on a two-month loan from his American club New York Red Bulls.
