Kofi Adams, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commended former Minister of Education, Madam Betty Mould-Iddrisu for the decision to tender in her resignation letter on her own accord describing it as a bold step. According to him, the fact that she did not wait to be �dropped� in the likely event of a reshuffle is good for governance. The Education Minister jumped ship yesterday over developments allegedly associated with the Alfred Woyome judgment debt saga when she tendered in her resignation letter to the Office of the President late Monday night. She becomes the second cabinet minister in the Mills administration to have lost her job over the Woyome saga following closely on the heels of dismissed Attorney General, Martin Amidu. Given the brouhaha that followed the discovery of the controversial payment of a GHS58 million default judgment debt to NDC financier Alfred Agbesi Woyome and the critical role she played in that payment, some had predicted that she was likely to bail out. She stands accused of failing to defend the case brought against the state by Mr. Alfred Woyome resulting in the payment of GH�58 million judgement debt paid to the NDC financier. Betty Mould-Iddrisu�s complicity in the whole Woyome saga has to do with the decision to rather negotiate for consent judgment with the embattled NDC guru resulting in the huge money that was paid to him (Woyome). Speaking as a panelist on Peace FM�s �Kokrokoo�, Kofi Adams who also doubles as a spokesperson for the Rawlingses said since it had been the wish of most people, especially the opposition NPP that Betty resigns, they should hail her for honourably doing so on her own accord. He, however, expressed regret that the Woyome saga has distracted governance, and even resulted in two cabinet ministers losing their positions. �She�s taken a very bold decision� we should hail her for such a decision since we were all calling on her to resign�I wish her well in whatever endeavor she wants to continue in�she is a Ghanaian and whatever she does will be for the good of Ghana�She has done what she could...but whether we like it or not this Woyome issue has distracted governance�we�ve spent so much time and resource on it for far too long�,� Kofi Adams said.
