Every True NDC Member Must Cease Defending Woyome - Sam Pee Yalley

Public Interest Lawyer and staunch activist of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sam Pee Yalley, has urged all true members and supporters of the NDC to stay off the controversial Woyome judgment debt scandal. He has admonished activists of the party not to necessarily shield and back Mr. Woyome because he is said to be affiliated to the NDC. The controversial Woyome GH51 million judgment debt payment has received massive attention within the media for months now with the issue having been turned into a political debate between the ruling NDC and opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). President Mills has already ordered the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate the issue but the NPP believes a public inquiry into the matter would rather help unearth all the details. In all this, the embattled NDC financier has however enjoyed massive support from leading members of the NDC and government who believe he is being unnecessarily persecuted. It therefore came as no surprise when a pro-NDC pressure group, Concerned NDC Members, pledged unflinching support for the businessman last week and even embarked on a demonstration Tuesday, petitioning government to arrest past officials in connection with the issue. The KNUST branch of the Tertiary Education Network of the NDC, a student group of the NDC and a strong backer of the NDC financier, has also called on the government to immediately withdraw the case filed against Mr Woyome. But contributing to discussions on Peace FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show, Sam Pee Yalley expressed his disappointment in those defending Mr. Woyome, describing them as nation wreckers. According to him, the law is no respecter of party affiliations and therefore who perpetuates fraud irrespective of his or her role in government must be prosecuted. We have to be patient and critical as we try to get to the bottom of this Woyome saga. As an ardent NDC member, I always dismiss the statement that this is an NDC case. Besides, NDC is damaging itself by going to the defence of and offering support to Woyomebecause the NDC was built on dignity and with sacrifice. Even if Woyome is an NDC member and he is in some kind of trouble, we shouldnt jump to his defence, it is wrong. I am admonishing every true NDC member to stay away from the Woyome scandal, even if he (Woyome) did support the party financially that must be interrogated because if an NDC member commits fraud or engages in stealing, then he is a thief; likewise if it is an NPP member, he stated. He warned political parties to stop shielding people who run to them when they are in trouble by allowing the law to take its rightful course. Mr. Woyome has lawyers representing hence NDC members should shy away from defending himif the court exonerates him, he becomes a free person but if he is found culpable, everyone involved whether in government or not will face the necessary prosecution, he added. The Public Interest Lawyer also urged all to give EOCO the much needed cooperation.
