John Paintsil: Its Do Or Die Against Mali At 2012 AFCON

Ghana defender John Paintsil has said that their next game against Mali on Saturday at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations will determine their fate in the competition. The Black Stars are playing the Eagles in a second west African derby this weekend in Group D and a win for either side would mean qualification to the knockout stage as both teams won their opening games. The Leicester City defender believes that the fixture is a make or break opportunity for the four-time African champions and Ghana must give their best if they are to live up to their pre-tournament favourites tag. Its a game that we are going to call it a do or die affair, Paintsil told the Ghana FA website. Thats the game that would qualify us to the quarter-final. Its a massive one against Mali. It wouldnt be easy but we would keep our discipline and keep our heads focused and take one at a time just like we did in the first game [against Botswana], he added. We are very confident of making it to the next round and would play to win the next one [against Mali] and see how it goes from there. The reward after every game is the same, its three points, and thats what we are determined to get.
