Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has admitted that his second 2012 Africa Cup of Nations game against Mali sent shivers down his spine and forced him to make some tactical changes to gain the upper hand. The Black Stars beat the Eagles 2-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew to top the group with six points. The Serbian said both teams respected each other and neither was ready to lose until the interval, where he had to use experience to change his game plan. He lauded his charges for the good work done which has so far edged Ghana closer to the knockout stage of the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. �They [Mali] have experience enough and know how to play this game. It was nervous. No one wanted to lose this game,� Stevanovic said. �In half time, I just changed some tactical mistakes and some details. Some details sometimes decide the game and really, I am happy and want to congratulate my players for a fantastic performance and effort.� �Before the game there was a little bit pressure and we needed this victory to take another confidence because this team is really good and did a very good job,� Plavi added at the press conference. Ghana will play Guinea in the final Group D fixture on Wednesday.
