Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has taken a swipe at members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for staunchly defending embattled Alfred Agbesi Woyome, pointing out that the ruling party is inflicting mortal wounds on itself by supporting him. Mr Pratt says he cannot understand the position of some NDC stalwarts who have constantly been defensive of Mr. Woyome as well as some pro-NDC groups that have sprang up and demonstrated in favour of him. �I don�t understand, at one point you will hear TEIN group demonstrating in support, party groups will also be demonstrating in support and making statements and even leaders and government officials within the party are also on television and radio defending him. What is wrong with the NDC, especially when their president (Mills) has ordered for investigations?� he asked. Contributing to discussions on Peace FM�s Kokrokoo Morning Show, he expressed bewilderment at Mr. Woyome�s proud fraternization with the NDC especially during the party�s primaries in the past week where he was seen introducing winners to delegates. Wondering if he (Woyome) has now become a party Chairman, Pratt posited that the NDC was on a �suicide� mission. �Why are the NDC inflicting mortal wounds on themselves? How come Woyome, widely perceived to be a major bank-roller of the party should be the one to declare a winner in a primary by lifting their hand, moreso when the NDC has been accused of paying him money through criminal means? I was surprised to see him at various constituencies lifting hands, is he now a party chairman?� he questioned. The Senior journalist wondered why the beleaguered NDC guru was still at post as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Board for Small scale Industries (NBSSI) amidst all the controversies surrounding him, saying, �I don�t understand what is happening in the NDC; it is as if they�ve made their minds that no matter what, they want to go into opposition. They�ve latched onto some suicidal tendencies, itching to go back to opposition and I don�t understand,� he said. The Insight newspaper Editor however avers Woyome is not the culpable politician in the never-ending controversial judgment debt payment saga. According to him, he was convinced that some seven people must stand trial for their roles in the scandal. The seven persons, he said, are members of the ruling NDC and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). �Among the seven, are four key persons who should have been arrested by now�I cannot fathom why those people are still enjoying their freedom,� he said. Stopping short of naming those he believed to be liable, Mr Pratt however stressed that they must be punished for causing the nation such a huge loss.
