PPP vows to strengthen parliament if voted into power

He said everything would be done to make it independent of the executive by repealing the provision in the constitution that requires the President to appoint Ministers of State from the House adding that this would give meaning to separation of powers and ensure that there existed real checks and balances. Dr Kwofie, who was speaking to told Ghana News Agency in an interview in Kumasi, said Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives would also be elected and that would undoubtedly help to make them to become more accountable to the people. He said the PPP is in for serious business and those who chose to discount it would have the shock of their lives. He said the PPP would campaign on quality education, health and sanitation, industrialization, transparency, good governance and effective leadership. Dr Kwofie said Ghanaians deserved better than what they were getting and appealed to voters to give the party their mandate adding that PPP would work to bring prosperity and jobs to the people.
