GCPP elects officers in Northern, Upper East and West regions

The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), has held congresses in the Northern, Upper East and West regions to elect officers. A statement issued in Accra on Friday said prior to the Regional Congresses, the party held elections in all the 50 constituencies to elect their party constituency executives. It said �These elections brought a lot of optimism to the rank and file of the party and the members were highly charged to continue to promote the late Dan Lartey�s Domestication Policy, which is still the best policy for Ghana.� In the Northern Region, Mr Abdulai A. Iddi, was elected Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Abdul Rashid, Vice Chairman, Mr Abdulai Osman, General Secretary and Mr Shahadu Antamatu as Treasurer. The rest are, Mr Iddrisu Abubakari, Education Secretary, Madam Tuferu Laila, Women�s Organiser, Mr Ziblim Shani, Organiser and Mr Alidu Issah, Youth Oganiser. In the Upper East Region, Mr Smon Kurug was elected Chairman, Mr Kuuyine Edgard Yelyaga, Vice Chairman, Mr Lawrence Allen, General Secretary, and Mr Abannaga Mahamadu, Treasurer. The rest are, Mr David Awine Akolpa, Education Secretary, Madam Comfort Azubila, Women�s Organiser, Mr Maxwell Alenga, Organiser and Mr Akurugu A. Washeru, Youth Organiser. In the Upper West Region, Mr Abass Abdul Latif was elected Chairman, Mr Moses Asunka, Vice Chairman, Mr Nuhu Abdul Wahab, General Secretary, and Mr Salia Sylverster, Treasurer. The rest are, Mr Iddrisu Lamin, Education Secretary, Madam Abubakari Umauhani, Women�s Organiser, Mr Ibrahim Zakarie, Organiser and Mr Abass Abdul Mumeen, Youth Organiser. Dr Henry Lartey, Acting Chairman of the party, explained that the concept of domestication was about supporting local farmers and local businesses by promoting a Ghana economic empowerment programme, which would be stimulus for the upliftment of the Ghanaian economically.
