Alhaji Bature To Kennedy Agyapong... My Father Was A Businessman

A painstaking investigation by the Punch newspaper indicate that Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, the Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, is spoiling for the courts to press charges against Hon. Kennedy Ohene-Agyapong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North for bringing the name of his family into disrepute. This is a result of recent disparaging remarks the Assin-North MP had been making about the status and integrity of the family of the Al-Hajj newspaper publisher. A family spokesperson who revealed this to the paper said Alhaji Issahaka Iddrisu, father of Alhaji Iddrisu Bature was never a watchman, who was shot dead for stealing as had been claimed by the Assin-North MP. Meanwhile, the paper has heard that Alhaji Bature is planning to pursue his case of threat of life against him by the Hon. MP. During exchanges between them on air, Hon. Kennedy Agyepong told Bature that he would kill him, Bature subsequently reported the matter to the Police CID Headquarters. According to the Punch newspaper source, when the Police CID finished with their preliminary investigations and the docket was sent to the Attorney-Generals Department, Mr. Martin Amidu, the than Attorney-General and Minister of Justice scoffed at it. Sources said the re-opening of Ken Agyapong Ill kill you case against Alhaji Bature, was warranted by the recent scale of insults and vituperation being heaped on the Bature family by the Hon. MP. The issue has to do with Batures crusade against Hon. O.B. Amoah and Alhaji Batures comments concerning the fact that just after Woyome had allegedly received the first tranche of 17 million Ghana Cedis as part payment for the GH5.2 million judgemnt debt, Hon. O.B. Amoah went to collect a cheque for GH75,000.00 from Woyome. While Alhaji Bature claims that the MPs mother owed him some money (13 cedis) being cost of plastic items she bought from his shop, without paying, the MP claims that Alhaji Batures father was a watchman, who was lynched for stealing. The spokesman asked Hon. Kennedy Agyepong to go and cross-check his facts because the information he is spreading about his family is all wrong. According to him until Alhaji Issahaku Iddrisu died and was buried on June 19, 2008, he was a very successful transporter and building contractor whose works spanned nearly the entire breath of the country. Enumerating some of the jobs executed by Alhaji Batures father he said, their fathers firm IIA Iddrisu & Sons Limited., was the one which renovated the Ghana School of law building and constructed the 28th February court buildings. My father died peacefully died on 19th June 2008 at Nima. Everybody in Accra who knew him came to the funeral, the spokesperson said. When the paper reached out to Alhaji Bature Iddrissu for his comments on the latest twist of events, he said I myself started riding in a Mercedes Benz in 1972 when Ken had not gone to school. I started seeing money when Ken had not seen money. At the time he and his sister were putting up Hollywood at Madina, I was having my own big shop in, Mamobi and riding in big cars also. So whoever gave him that information, he should cross check. On top of that, the spokesperson said their fathers firm put up the Madina Zongo estate, SSB Bank (SSB current headquarters) opposite the Nima Police Station. His company also put up the Fijai Senior Girls School Dormitory, Nsaem/Tarkwa Hospital, Tarkwa Tom Roads, Bawku Ghana Telecom (GT) building, Pusiga Training College bungalow, Tafo Government Hospital and Nsawam Hospital. Finally the spokesperson said Alhaji Bature put up the Piralugu and Zualugu low cost Housing projects, Tumu water systems, Navorongo DCE Office, Lawra water system and a whole lot.
