NDC To Boycott Asempa FM If Original Host Is Replaced - Boateng Gyan

The National Organizer of the ruling NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan has served notice that if host of Asempa FMs political discussion programme Ekosii Sen, Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah is taken off the programme, the NDC would boycott the show. He said the ruling party was watching developments at the radio station with keen interest, claiming it appeared that managers of the station had succumbed to pressure from the opposition New Patriotic Party to change the host of the show. Yaw Gyans threat comes on the back of last Wednesdays incident in which supporters of the NPP stormed the premises of the radio station to register their displeasure at comments made by an NDC panelist which they claimed had unjustifiably maligned their flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The NPP supporters also said the host of the show; Nana Bobie Ansah gave leverage to NDC communicators on the show to the disadvantage of their party representatives on the programme. After a boycott, the NPP has now proposed a neutral host of the programme to offer an equal platform to both parties. But Yaw Boateng Gyan on Ekosii Sen on Monday was convinced the management of Multimedia Broadcasting had kowtowed to the whims and caprices of the NPP. Yaw Gyan contacted via phone by producers of the show to answer questions on a number of issues concerning the NDC took the opportunity to quiz the regular sit-in-host of Ekosii Sen, Kwadwo Asare Baffour Asare (KABA) of the whereabouts of Nana Bobie. KABA replied that Bobie Ansah was on a short leave and would return soon to take over the programme but Yaw Gyan was not convinced about the answer and hinted of a possible boycott if the trend prevails. He noted that Bobie Ansahs absence as host of the flagship programme confirmed speculations that he (Bobie) has been suspended by management following the uproar at the radio station last Wednesday. The NDC kingpin said he can vouch for the neutrality of Bobie Ansah and that he should not be blamed for the intolerance of the NPP. Yaw Boateng Gyan urged management of the Multimedia Group - the parent company of Asempa FM-to expedite action to resolve the situation to enable Bobie Ansah return to the programme to avert any action by the NDC. Earlier, Deputy Information Minister, James Agyenim Boateng who was supposed to be on the programme failed to run up leaving the ruling party with no representative on the show.
