NDC Setting The Record Straight Forum Wont Sell CPP, PNC

Mixed reactions have greeted the governing party; (NDC) setting the records straight forum. The forum was initiated as part of the NDC, then in oppositions communication machinery to win the 2008 elections. It has been reintroduced to tell the full story of the governments achievements over the last three years. Appearing on the maiden edition of forum, Deputy Finance Minister, Fiifi Kwettey claimed the NDC administration under President John Mills has performed better than the NPPs eight years rule. Mohammed Atik, policy analyst of the Peoples National Convention is of the view that the forum wouldnt convince the electorate to change their minds on which party to vote for in December. I doubt if this will really serve a great purpose for the NDC as a political party in the sense that we are now in the saddle and everybody is expecting to see delivery of results; so to say you are going to set the records straight in my opinion mean that there are some records which people are twisting for that reason you are coming to set the records straight, he remarked. Mr. Atik said, What I can only say is that creating such a platform once again will only help us in opposition to begin to do proper analysis of the figures and information that will be given to us, and we as PNC will do proper policy analysis of the figures and will issue a statement regarding the partys position relating the specific issues they have raised. Richmond Keelson, Spokesperson for the Progressive Peoples Party founder, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom shared the same believes with the PNC policy Analyst. He charged, We should really get to the level that governance becomes something very serious by detaching it from propagandas or party propaganda. Adding, We talk about somebody who now acts in a capacity as a Deputy Finance Minister to have really reduced that position to propaganda; it will not have any impact on the December elections. Communications Director of the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah also rubbished the forum. He noted, They can set up a platform to push forward their own ideas and thoughts on their own achievements, but thats all that they did, we are legitimate opposition and we can similarly comment or rebut any issues they put out. Mr. Akomfrah further stated, When they talk about inflation, unprecedented low level of inflation, we can say that this inflation has no bearing at all on the people because hardship is not measured in single digit.
