Mr Kwasi Amoako Atta, the Member of Parliament for Atiwa, has called on all stakeholders to be vigilant in the forth coming biometric exercise scheduled to start on March 24 this year. He said this was the only way to ensure that the nation would get a reliable and credible voter register for the general election. He appealed to all political parties to appoint representatives who are acquainted with Information Communication Technology (ICT) in order to ensure good monitoring. He said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Atiwa District Electoral Officer, Miss Victoria Yakubu on Monday inquire on the preparations for the impending exercise. Mr Amoako-Atta accompanied by the Eastern Regional First Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Omar Bodinga, said it was important that he as a representative of the Atiwa people be kept abreast with the necessary information before the exercise begins. He appealed to the Electoral Commission to ensure that officers who would be assigned to supervise the registration exercise would not compromise on their principles and professionalism. He cautioned parents not to allow their children who have not attained the voting age to register since the law would deal with them. Miss Victoria Yakubu, the Atiwa District Electoral Officer, said preparations were far advanced for the exercise and that an awareness campaign would soon start to educate the people of the need to register. She said the constituency has 117 polling stations which have been divided into 30 clusters with each cluster made up of four polling stations. Miss Yakubu gave the assurance that her outfit would do everything possible to make the exercise problem free. Mr Amoako-Atta later donated street lights, jersey and footballs to the Enyiresi community.
