Minister Under Fire As Assembly Man Roast Him

The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has been under scrutiny by assembly members of Tema Municipality for taking undue credits for ongoing projects in the area. According to the sections of the assemblymen, it would be proper and accurate that the Minister, who is doing everything to be voted for as the MP for Tema West after running away from Fanteakwa constituency where he was defeated by the NPP on two occasions to give credits to where credit is due. Speaking on behalf of the concerned Assembly Members, Mr. Joseph Buabeng Twumasi, the Assemblyman for Baatsona Electoral Area, urged the Minister Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to desist from taking credit for ongoing projects in Tema West constituency to score cheap political points. He said it was unfortunate that the campaign team of Mr. Ofosu Ampofo are cris-crossing the constituency claiming that road and other major development projects going on in the area were initiated by him. Speaking to The Publisher Mr. Twumasi revealed that the ongoing road projects such as the Spintex road, Adjeikojo road and Lashibi-Klagon-Ashiama road were started in 2009 at the time Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was minister in the Eastern region and said it is becoming increasingly unbelievable that the Minister now wanting to be elected would make such statement. The assemblyman who is advocating for truth and clean politics said some of these projects were initiated under President John Agyekum Kufuor and president Mills is continuing it, asking, Why is Ofosu Ampofo desperate to win the seat with these lies. He should please stop what he is dong because it is not going to help him. People know what is happening and would vote according to what each candidate had one. What did he do when TMA demolished houses at Klagon? Where was Ofosu Ampofo when TMA gave school lands at Kotobabi to family who won a case against the TMA? Why didnt he intervene? If Ofosu Ampofo is serious about development he should construct a market for the Baatsona enclave. As a Local Government Minister, it is within his domain to construct a market, he said. Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is contesting the Tema West constituency seat on the ticket of the NDC after failing to win the Fanteakwa seat in 2004 and 2008. He faces an uphill task of defeating NPP candidate Hon. Irene Naa Torshie Addo. Naa Torshie Addo has managed to silence the former Majority Leader Abraham Aidoo.
