Madam Alijata Sulemana, Sissala East District Chief Executive (DCE), has expressed dissatisfaction at assembly's performance in revenue generation and called for the overhauling of the revenue mobilisation unit.

She said out of the 63,749.88 Ghana Cedis revenue target for this year, only 93,716.00 Ghana Cedis was collected due to lack of supervision and monitoring by the assembly.

Madam Sulemana was addressing members of the Assembly at its third ordinary session at Tumu on Monday.

She said that the assembly would not be able to meet the development needs of the people if internal generated revenue continued to be low and urged the members to work hard to improve upon revenue mobilisation.

Madam Sulemana called for the collection of data on all ratable property in the district including cattle to enhance the revenue base of the assembly while it took steps to privatize some public toilets in the Tumu Township for proper management.

She suggested the recruitment of private security personnel to help in revenue collection and the initiation of plans to check fuel smuggling to neighbouring Burkina Faso.

Madam Sulemana said that the assembly would from next year work on Tumu Town roads and would build more roads to link suburbs of Tumu.

She said the assembly would drill boreholes at schools to prevent school children from roaming in search of water and ensure the recruitment of more trained teachers in Information and Communication Technology, Science, French and Ghanaian Language to improve education in the district.

Madam Sulemana said the assembly would build two Police posts in the area to help fight smuggling, armed robbery and cattle rustling.
