Aliu Mahama Foundation (AMF) says the current economic challenge the country is grappled with was as a result of “gross indiscipline.”

Entreating Ghanaians to uphold greater discipline, the foundation said overcoming these challenges would be easy if “we are to instill discipline in all facets of our human existence. “We believe that the issues and challenges facing the country today…with discipline, we will be able to overcome them,” the foundation’s Executive Director, Dr. Samuel K. Frimpong said.

He said this at the climax of the first Annual Quran Memorization and Recitation Award ceremony held in Accra over the weekend.

The perennial challenges facing the country were attributable to indiscipline, lamented Dr. Samuel K. Frimpong, hence calling on the clergy to use their influence to reverse what he labelled as the escalation of moral decadence among Ghanaians. Dr. Samuel Frimpong noted that the event formed part of initiatives lined up to revive the late vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s advocacy for greater discipline in the society.

Farouk Mahama, son of the late vice President said the family would continue to support the Muslim community in their quest to instill discipline in the youth. Fifty students of age 19, from five selected schools participated in a competition at the end of which Rashad Islamic School in Accra emerged victorious. Halaqutu Ummatu Iqra and Halaqatu Masjid Rasulallah Islamic schools won the second and third positions.
