The Bank of Ghana has cleared 385 licensed microfinance firms as being in good standing.
In its latest release of 435 licensed financial institutions: Money Lending firms (60), Microfinance institutions (385) and FNGOs (10), the central bank said all the institutions that made the list were in good standing as of July 31, 2016.
Currently the central bank has put in place stringent measures to police the activities of microfinance institutions following a scam involving DKM Microfinance Limited and other financial institutions in the Brong Ahafo Region that affected over 70,000 people.
