The President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has claimed that an initial assessment of the implementation of the paperless system at the country’s ports has shown a “record” revenue collection improvement in just a single day.
According to him, revenue at the port increased to GHc69 million in just a day – a figure he said is impressive after the implementation of the system.
The policy Think-tank boss who could not hide his joy took to his Facebook page to share that indeed “Ghana's Paperless System is working”.
He however heaped praise on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his vision to introduce the system after insisting that the amount recorded is a “record” in Ghana’s history.
“Record! Kudos to the Vice-President Bawumia, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and the President We need more on Ports Efficiency!” his comment read.
Adding that, “I’m not sure if it is a trend though. It could be due to clearing backlog cargo due to the paperless system. Still good news.”
The paperless Port Transaction system successfully commenced on September 1, 2017.

But Franklin, since when did blips become subjects for praise? Ebei!
How much is collected previously? Is there a REDUCTION IN TAX WHICH RESULTED IN AN INCREASE REVENUE COLLECTED?
JOHN MAHAMA WAS CLUE.LESS, VISION.LESS AND INCOMP.ETENT AND WAS BUSY HANDING OUR JUICY CONTRACTS TO HIS BROTHER AND FAMILY. THE NDC IS SO BEREFT AND VOID OF IDEAS, THEY WILL ATTEMPT TO CLAIM EVERY UNDER THE SUN AS THEIRS. SOON THE NDC WILL CLAIM THAT, JOHN MAHAMA IS THE CREATOR OF THE AFRICAN CONTINENT.
WE PAID TO CLEAR OUR GOODS YOU SEE THE MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT AND YOU ARE HAPPY, ASK YOURSELF IF INDEED YOU HAVE RENDERED YOUR SERVICE TO ME. WE ARE SUFFERING AT THE PORT. THERE IS A LOT OF WORK TO DO STOP BOASTING AND DO THE RIGHT THING.AND ALSO NOTE THAT THE CHARGES AT THE PORT ARE VERY HIGH.
WHAT WORK DID BAWUMIA, KEN OFORI ATTA AND KAPWEPWE AKUFO ADDO DO ABOUT THIS PAPERLESS BUSINESS. DO YOU PEOPLE THINK SUCH THINGS ARE DONE WITHIN A YEAR. TO SOME OF YOU GHANA CAME INTO BEING AFTER AKUFO ADDO WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT. FUUUUOOOOLS!
We should take note of the agitation of importers as they are paying more than before to clear their goods. IF we are not careful prices of goods are going to shot up and make the paperless system a disincentive.
I'm not an expert in port operations but I hear some of the old folks asking for a "modern call center". In view that is a back-door approach to re-introduce "paper" into the the paperless system and the subsequent corruption of the system. The call center guys would then be "deciding" which cases get resolved on time. That immediately is the undoing of the paperless system. Government must watch this request!
I congratulate the team that worked for the success of this paperless regime at the port. I am of the view that taxes on vehicles are too high that it is more the the cost of the vehicle. The way forward something should be done about it.
Ghana can work and be like any other developed nation we just need to do the right things.
ghana is working again
