SIC Insurance Company Limited, the nation�s preferred insurer, has made good its pledge to the 2010 national best farmer by presenting a package worth GH�7,500 to the winner, Mr. Benjamin Adjetey, at a short ceremony at the SIC Insurance boardroom in Accra.
SIC Insurance over the years has supported the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the National Best Farmer celebrations.
The company each year makes cash donations toward the national celebrations and sponsors the overall winner with an all-expenses paid trip to participate in the Royal Farmers Show in England.
SIC Executives present at the ceremony included Mrs. Doris Nkani, the Deputy Managing Director-Technical; Mr. Franklin Asafo Adjei, the Deputy Managing Director in Charge of Finance and Administration; Nana Mantey, Head of Corporate Affairs; and Mr. Musa Baaba, General Manager in Charge of Finance.
Mrs. Doris Nkani, who spoke to the press after the presentation, said that in line with the company�s commitment to partner the government and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, it is her hope that national best farmers will learn best practices as they attend the Royal Farmers Show in the UK to improve and impact food production and farming in the country.
Mr. Benjamin Adjei, the 2010 national best farmer who was accompanied by his spouse to receive the donation, expressed profound gratitude to SIC for the gesture and hoped the company will continue to partner government and the ministry in their quest to motivate farmers to work tirelessly toward growth of the agriculture sector.
