The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has dismissed reports that is has begun issuing new denominations.
It follows reports that the BoG has begun issuing denominations of 100 and 200 cedis.
But the central bank reacting to the reports said it has no plans of doing so and the reports are false.
‘The Bank of Ghana has not issued and has no plans of issuing any new denominations of the Ghana cedi and categorically states that the stories circulating on social media to the effect that the bank is issuing denominations of 100 and 200 cedis are false.
According to the bank the only denominations of the cedi in circulation and are legal tender are 50, 20, 10, 5, 2, and 1 cedi notes.
While for coins the only legal tenders currently in circulation are 1 cedi, 50 pesewas, 20 pesewas, 10 pesewas, 5 pesewas and 1 pesewa.
