MTN at the weekend pledged to help boost agribusiness in the northern parts of the Volta Region, through its progressing phased communication linkup of the area with the rest of Ghana.

Mr Lawrence Akosem, Quality Assurance Manager, Customer Care Division said this during a meeting with Journalists in Ho.

He said that vast forested and semi-forested area was one of Ghanas dependable food baskets that MTN could not ignore, as the largest market shareholding mobile telephone company expands.

He said MTNs business was moving in tandem with national development strategies.

Farm products in that area of the region include yams, vegetables, cereals and fruits, attracting hordes of traders everyday for purchases to the urban markets.

Vincent Fiamawle, Technical Officer responsible for the Volta Region said already, MTN was accessible along the routes and communities from Jasikan north-eastwards to Kpassa and north-westwards to Kete-Krachi.

He said efforts were being made to cover the terrain better, given its vastness and rather challenging geographical features.

Besides its agricultural potentials, routes through the northern parts of the region are considered the shortest to the Northern Regions of Ghana, as a result of which first class roads are currently being constructed to link up southern Ghana to the north.

Efua Falconer, Acting Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, said MTNs social responsibility overtures were not city-centred, assuring that, Volta Region would get its fair share.

She said MTN products and services were designed to make life better for its customers, lauding the recently introduced MTN Money Transfer as a star product, tailored to the needs of Ghanaians.
