The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has described as imposters, people parading themselves in the country as officials of the NPA and registering fuel retail outlets, taking huge sums of money and issuing fake licenses to them.
A press release issued by the Public Relations Department of the NPA in Accra, stated that the NPA has not authorised any persons or agencies to issue licenses on its behalf.
The release said that copies of the fake licenses in the possession of the NPA quoted wrongly the NPAs address as P. O. Box 7108, Accra, contrary to the correct address of No 11, 5th Circular Road, Cantonments, Accra.
The release said that genuine NPA licenses issued under the NPA Act 691, 2005, were in the form of a booklet and not leaflets.
The release warned those issuing the fake licenses to desist from the illegal act and advised those interested in the petroleum business to contact the offices of the NPA on 021-766196 or on their toll free number 080012300.
