Ghana’s leading telecommunications service provider, MTN, in partnership with Qualcomm, has launched the MTN /Qualcomm 3G enabled HTC phone in Accra.

The launch kick starts an awareness campaign aimed at creating a platform to drive increased data usage among Ghanaians, particularly the business community.

Launching the product, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Rahul De, reiterated the company’s commitment to increase internet penetration in the country with the aim of bridging the digital divide between Ghana and the developed world.

“Our partnership with Qualcomm to promote these HTC 3G phones ties in with our broad objective to encourage Ghanaians to tap into the benefits of surfing the internet in order to boost productivity generally impact the socio-economic development of the country, ” he said.

Qualcomm is a global supplier of chipsets and wireless solutions to mobile industry and the world leader in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies.

The campaign was done in collaboration with SellPhones Ghana Limited, a retailer and distributor of mobile devices and authorised HTC distributor and key device channel partner for MTN

The telecommunication industry in Ghana has played a pivotal role in projecting Ghana in to the digital age and MTN Ghana’s contribution in this regard cannot be over emphasized.
