President John Dramani Mahama is expected in Prestea today to blow the siren for work to start on the underground mine, to be run by the Golden Star Resources Limited.

Work on the mine was one of the concerns raised by the chiefs and people of Prestea during the President's campaign tour of the region.

The mine when it becomes operational will provide the youth with employment as well as royalties for the traditional area.
