The President of the National Farmers and Fishers Award Winners Association of Ghana, Philip Abayori, has asked government to invest purposefully in the nation's variety of pineapples to enable the country to regain its position as a leading exporter of the fruits.
He said the smooth cayenne is multi-purpose and can capture its position with vigorous promotion and marketing.
Mr Abayori also called for research which must be supported by the sector Ministry to catch up with the rest of the world.
