Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has taken delivery of 997,000 barrels of crude oil from Nigeria which is expected to last 27 days. TOR Public Affairs Manager, Aba Lokko, told the Times that arrangement were underway for the next consignment. She, however declined to specify when it would come.
Sundays consignment was delivered under an arrangement with Sahara Oil Company of Nigeria that quality control experts were on board the MT Wihemina Vessel at the Tema Port to take samples of the crude oil. Show of yensa aka ooh, yensa aka ooh! meaning (we have got it) by a group of TOR workers greeted the arrival of the crude.
The spokesperson for the TOR Local Union, Mr Bernard Entsiwah, said: We are very happy that we now have crude oil and samples have been taken for analysis by our Quality Control personnel, because that is all we have been crying for.
He could also not ascertain whether the supply of crude would be sustained for TOR not to go back to the previous situation of shortage. Mr Entsiwah said the union was yet to meet management to know its plans to ensure uninterrupted supply of crude to the refinery.
