The 1500 workers of Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) who were affected by the factorys break last week are expected to resume work today, Monday February 8.
The company said the factory break was a result of shortage in major production materials mainly black oil and cotton. The shortage of the black oil was also attributed to the current challenges faced by the Tema Oil Refinery which is their main source.
The Management says it is temporarily depending on supply from some individuals for their operations as it awaits confirmation from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) on when supply would resume.
The first batch of workers was expected to start work on Friday February 5th with the rest expected to follow today, Monday February 8th. The Human Resource Manager of ATL, Ebenezer Kwesi Darko in an interview with Citi Business said because of the shortage of black oil, we notified our workers that the departments will not be in production until the situation with the black oil improves. He added that the company has began receiving some black oil to start work but hopes to get more from TOR soon.
