Vodafone Wholesale, a subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana, dedicated to meeting the bandwidth needs of internet service providers and mobile network operators has partnered the Government to commence the ground breaking Bolgatanga-Senkase fibre connectivity project which will provide communications links between Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso and other countries in the sub region.

The project, which has been in the pipeline since 2009, is historic and unique as it is the first of its kind in the country that will link different countries together, making significant contributions to the economic and social development of the sub-region.

The project, is being executed in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and the government and will promote sound inter states connectivity, ICT infrastructure in the country and open up unlimited opportunities for the people in the northern parts of Ghana.

Speaking at a sod cutting ceremony in the Upper East Region to officially commence the project, the Managing Director of Vodafone Wholesale, Edwin Provencal said ‘For us, our partnering with the government on this project, is quite simple – we want to help bring to light a dream that has been on the drawing board for quite some time now; a dream which has the ability to turn our fortunes around and, give us greater opportunities for growth.

Vodafone Ghana believes in the potential of this region and the country and so we will not relent in our efforts to invest in areas that will improve the standard of living for the people of Ghana’.

He added that ‘We are particularly excited about this project because it will bring a fundamental improvement in internet connectivity in the region, create job opportunities and improve the socio economic lot of the region, open up the region to greater business opportunities and, lead to a greater regional integration among Ghana and the countries in the sub region’.

On his part, the Deputy Minister for Communication, Ernest Attuquaye Armah charged the people in the Northern Region to take advantage of the opportunities that will come with the completion of this project in the region. He commended Vodafone Wholesale for their support.

Vodafone Wholesale, a subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana, rebranded earlier this year and currently has network coverage comprising underground and overhead fibre in the south, middle and northern parts of the country as well as metropolitan fibre network in some parts of the country.
