Hundred officers of the Customs division of the National Revenue Authority have benefited from a two day training in the identification and classification of telecom equipment organised by Huawei Technologies Ghana Ltd.

The customs officers who were drawn from the Tema habour were taken through rigorous training in a comprehensive overview of Huawei logistics process and other technologies for efficiency and transparency in the handling of telecom equipment.

Speaking at the opening of the training, the Sector Commander of the Division at the port, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusif Adam said the training came at a very critical moment in the work of the Custom Division as the fast pace of technological advancement was making their work increasingly difficult.

According to him, the training was going to empower officers to enhance revenue collection by tracking down fake goods at the ports. The training was also going to afford the beneficiaries the opportunity to be abreast with the new models of Information Technology equipments on the international market and expose them to their specifications.

On her part, Mrs Diana Ayem, the Deputy Director Huawei Technologies said the Customs officers were faced with several challenges in getting updates on new information in the telecoms industry.

She said Huawei, as part of its commitment to improve lives through communication was going to continue assisting institutions such as the customs to enhance its work.
