British Council on Monday, October 1, 2012, launched its Customer Service week with a seminar to commemorate the week long celebrations.

The first week of October every year is set aside to primarily celebrate customers for a continued business relationship with organisations. It also is a period to commend staff and urge them on in their daily contribution to their respective outfits.

British Council Ghana set the pace in customer service celebrations in Ghana five years ago and continues to lead the pack in that regard. This year, the theme for the celebrations is dubbed ‘Inspired to serve.’

Speaking at the launch, the Country Director, Moses Anibaba, noted the need to appreciate customers and staff. He reiterated the essence of commitment and dedication in ones line of work; as they are requisites for success.

In a motivational session, the main speaker, Founder and President of the Center for Public Speaking, Samuel Jonathan, noted, every customer experience must be a transformational one; one that fulfils and goes beyond customers’ expectations. He said there was no point in settling for just the ‘good’ when a ‘better’ option is available.

He said, serving is a selfless act that requires the utmost attention.

As part of celebrations, British Council staff would dress-up in colour codes in correspondence with the organisation’s values- Professionalism, Integrity, Mutuality, Valuing people and Creativity.

British Council has existed in Ghana for over six decades and continues to create international opportunities for people of the UK and other countries; and builds trust between them worldwide. We call this cultural relation.

The week-long activity ends on Friday, October 5, 2012, with the Cambridge International Examinations awards. This is meant to acknowledge schools, teachers and students who performed excellently in the June 2012 examinations.
