The Ghana Association of Bankers has called on government to strengthen the financial intelligence and centre and the Economic and Organised Crime Office to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
This, according to the Association, can be done by motivating professionals of these institutions very well to protect the financial system from the activities of criminals, both foreign and local.
The immediate past President of the Association, Asare Akuffo, made the call at the 13th Annual Luncheon of the association in Accra.
Mr. Akuffo noted that the banking industry will continue to co-operate with the Central Bank and government to improve the financial system for stability and economic growth.
