Government is making the necessary efforts to create and an enabling environment for job creation to reduce youth unemployment in the country.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Central Regional Minister, said this at a durbar to climax the Annual Akwambo Festival of the chiefs and people of Agona Kwanyako in the Agona East District.

The festival was under the theme: Youth in Development.

Mr Sarpong said it was because of this that government had embarked on re-activating abandoned industries including the Komenda Sugar Factory.

He said very soon all abandoned industries in the region would be revived to create job avenues and wealth for the people to reduce abject poverty.

Mr Sarpong appealed to the chiefs and people of the Kwanyako Traditional Area to collaborate with the Agona East District Assembly to ensure planned settlement of new sites to modernise the community.

He, therefore, urged the youth to work hard to enable them realize their potentials and visions to improve their lives.

The Minister appealed to Ghanaians to pay attention to road safety education on radio to help reduce the carnage on the highways.

Mrs Queenster Pokuah Sawyer, Member of Parliament for Agona East, and Deputy Central Regional Minister, assured the chiefs and people of Kwanyako that budgetary allocation had been made to complete their police station.

Nana Ampim Darko V, Chief of Kwanyako, said in the past six months, five people had been killed by vehicles plying the road and appealed to the Minister to help construct speed ramps in the town to save the lives of the people.
