The timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) saved the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) building at Half-Assini from being gutted by fire.

The Assistant Division Fire Officer of the GNFS at Half-Assini, Abu-Bonsra, told Ghana News Agency that the fire destroyed the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of the bank.

He said the cause of the fire is not yet known, however, the GNFS had started investigations into the disaster.

He said the GNFS received a call from the security man of the bank informing them about the fire outbreak.

Mr Abu-Bonsra said he dispatched a fire tender to the place and detected smoke emanating from the bank’s ATM.

The Fire Officer said apart from the air-conditioner that got damaged no other property was destroyed in the inferno.
