District Assemblies have been tasked to submit one viable industrial activity plan to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

This is part of government's District Industrialization Initiative to establish and promote local industries.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Haruna Iddrisu, made this known when the sector Ministry took its turn at the Meet the Press- series in Accra.


Meanwhile, the Minister of Trade and Industry has warned of the potential disruption of Ghanas exports to EU markets if the country fails to commit to the Economic Partnership Agreement by October 2014.

Ghana will therefore need to take a far reaching decision.

The Sector Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, announced that in anticipation of government decision on the EPA, the Ministry has launched an export strategy and a National Export Development Programme to help identify strategies that can develop Ghanas export base.
