Vodafone Ghana is projecting an exponential growth in smartphone adoption across the country with a complementary shift by customers towards added mobile data usage this year.

The mobile telephony landscape across the region and in Ghana in particular, is currently rising to levels that are beyond expectations. Current estimates indicate that mobile technology is probably the best thing that ever happened to the average citizen in Ghana – providing a revolution that cannot be matched. It has also stepped up the pace of growth in African countries and Ghana to be more specific.  The pace of telecommunications growth has given more power to the consumer and made life very simple and easy.

Since its emergence on the Ghanaian scene, Vodafone Ghana has uniquely positioned itself to provide unmatched customer experience through the provision of value for both its commercial and enterprise customers.

The telecoms industry in Ghana continues to face headwinds from regulatory interventions coupled with aggressive competition and a tough economic environment. Outstanding regulatory issues including the proposed Interconnect Clearing House (ICH), price regulation by the NCA and generic industry concerns around SIMbox fraud and cable thefts continue to present areas of concern for mobile operators in the country.

However, Haris Broumidis, Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana is bullish about the New Year and is anticipating a terrain where there will be an increased appetite for data and innovation.

“Despite the seeming saturation of the mobile telephony market, I am convinced that there is still room for penetration, especially in terms of users. Data is the new frontier and we are happy to be at the forefront of this.

Additionally, customer experience will be very key in the industry this year and as a company, we want to be totally differentiated through our network, touchpoints, value propositions, customers as well as the usage of products and services. That is what the competition cannot change. Our brand promise – Power to You – finds expression in how we deliver this”.

Since its entry into the Ghanaian market, Vodafone Ghana has led in the total transformation of the industry through its innovative product and services.

The company has been instrumental in many industry-defining products such as ‘One-Ghana for your pocket’, ‘Vodafone-Red’, Supreme and ‘Vodafone-X’ . These are currently the most admired and valuable telecoms branded products in the country, anchored by one of the most resilient and expansive networks in Ghana.
