Investing in health and education of children has been considered the vehicle to promote the future and growth of economic stability of every country.

And looking at education as the bedrock of development and educating the youth of today will prepare them to face the complexities of the future, Ecobank Ghana as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility has given three year full scholarship to 25 brilliant yet needy students across the country entering boarding school at the SHS level.

The Executive Director, Legal, Human Resource and Compliance, Mr. Morgan Asiedu who addressed the media at La Nkwantanang Cluster of Schools at the 2015 Ecobank Day celebration in Madina said the gesture is one of the main pillars the bank’s vision of contributing to the socio-economic development of Africa and Ghana.

According to Mr. Morgan Asiedu, Ecobank Ghana as a Pan-African banking institution which is passionate about the development of Africa and African people has over the years made substantial contributions towards the socio-economic development of Ghana by giving various supports to individuals, institutions and communities across the country.

Dwelling on this year’s theme “every child in Africa deserves a better future”, Ghana Ecobank has identified the various projects and commissioned to support the advancement of the Ghanaian child.

Among the projects commissioned to support the advancement of the Ghanaian child and the African child at large include provision of 8 high quality boreholes at La Nkwantanang Cluster of schools, Princess Marie Louise Hospital, Ketu South Municipal Hospital, Kpintariga Community, Zongo Community, Kenyase Community basic school, Abenaso Community and Tafo Government Hospital.

The Ecobank Ghana’s projects which valued Gh¢600,000 also donated computers and scholarships to La Nkwantanang Cluster of schools, plastic chairs, sewing machines, Hair dryers and computers to Dzorwulu Special school, hospital mattresses and Mosquito nets to Psychiatric hospital and incubator to Tarkwa Government hospital.

Other supported items given out include donation of CPAP equipment and consumables and 10 buckets of paints to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital; thus the bank staff members are undertaking various humanitarian community services.

Mr. Morgan Asiedu revealed that Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of Ecobank Ghana has set aside the first Saturday of every October as Ecobank Day to embark on major Corporate Social Responsibility projects across all its affiliates.

He added this year’s event took place simultaneously in 36 countries across middle Africa where Ecobank has a presence; thus in Ghana, Ecobank Day is being celebrated in chorus in 8 locations across the country by four Ecobank affiliate companies namely Ecobank Ghana Limited, eProcess International, Ecobank Development Corporation (EDC) and the Pan-African Savings and Loans Company Limited.
