Sixty members of the Eastern Regional Branch of Ghana Electrical Contractors Association (GECA), graduated after four weeks intensive training in solar installation and maintenance at Koforidua.
The training which was organised by the Government in collaboration with Ghana Technology University College was to imbibe solar installation and maintenance knowledge into the trainees.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Regional Chairman of the GECA, Nana Addo Tetebor said the training which was at the cost of GH₡ 4,800.00 was to educate members of the Association to enable them become more efficient.
He added that, since the world is migrating to digital technology, it is very necessary for members of the Association to acquire the technological know-how to enable them become more conversant in the field.
Mr Tetebor appealed to the government to provide the Association with digital measuring instruments in order to work efficiently.
One of the trainees, Mr Simms Mensah Nkrumah appealed to government to subsidize solar panels and other equipment imported to enable individuals have easy access to the facility to help secure jobs and help conserve energy.
