Airtel-Ghana has emerged as the most influential telecommunications company on social media for 2015 in the latest rankings released by the Ghana Social Media Rankings (GSMR).
The comprehensive annual rankings measures a company or brand’s social media engagement, post reach, mentions and activations across key social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
A statement issued in Accra by Mr Richard Ahiagble, Head Corporate Communication, said Airtel Ghana has the largest following in the telecom industry on Facebook with over 571,000 followers and this is besides the huge following on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
Ms Rosy Fynn, the Marketing Director of Airtel, said “ours is a company that deeply believes in engaging with our customers across all touch points including on social media.
“Our relentless commitment to remain close to our customers, to listen, engage and respond to their needs is core to our strategy. The statement said this recognition really goes first to our cherished customers who continue to make us the telecom company of choice and to the hardworking Customer Experience team who lead the engagement with our customers on a daily basis.
It said Airtel- Ghana’s leadership on Social Media is not new as it was recognised as the most socially devoted brand by Socialbakers, a global social media analytics firm.
Socialbakers monitor over 8 million social profiles across all the major social media platforms of companies on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+ and VK to set a benchmark for response times and response rates to questions from fans and customers of multiple companies.
Airtel Ghana, according to the Ghana Social Media Rankings, outperformed all the other telecom companies and its own performance in 2014, to become the Most Influential Telecom Company for 2015 and also the most talked about.
Data used for the rankings were gathered and evaluated throughout the year with the final data used for rankings recorded on the 28th of December, 2015.
The Rankings was conducted by Avance Media and CliQAfrica.
