Mr Egbert Faibille, Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission (PC) Ghana, has assured Norwegian oil businesses of a continuous conducive business climate in Ghana that is ready to welcome all genuine investors in the oil sector.

He reiterated that Ghana was opened for business and the government and its people were looking forward to building the necessary synergies and partnerships with investors that would partner local companies to take the upstream oil industry to another level.

“For those of you who seek to come to Ghana, the Petroleum Commission runs an open door, and is ready to welcome investors who seek to pitch with Ghanaian companies”.

Mr Faibille said this on Tuesday during an interaction session between Norwegian and Ghanaian businesses at the Ghana Pavilion at the ongoing Offshore North Sea 2018 conference and exhibition in Stavanger, Norway.

He urged the Ghanaian companies to take advantage of the fact that the Norwegian Aker Energy, which had  already acquired an oil block in Ghana, and to strike the necessary partnerships so they could win some of the contracts that would emerge out of Aker’s operation in the country.

Mr Faibille said the PC would continue to ensure transparency in contracts within both the foreign and local firms operations in the sector.

He asked Aker Energy to bring on board, the Norwegian model of oil production and business, which Ghana was following as a country, so that the needed partnerships would be done as subcontracts emerged from the main Aker contract.

He said the PC remained ready to unbundle contracts, which any one indigenous company would try to form under multiple companies, so it could get all the contracts in a particular value chain, saying, “when we see that we will stop it and unbundle, and free some of the contracts for everyone else who is fit proper, to get something to do”.

Mr Joseph Cudjoe, Deputy Minister of Energy, on his part said all the 40 companies on the trade mission were credible indigenous companies and so the Norwegian companies should feel free to partner them and do businesses with them back home in Ghana.

Mr Jan Helge Skoken, Country Manager of Aker Energy said his Company would count on the continuous collaboration of the PC, the GNPC and Ghana’s Ministry of Energy to help facilitate and deepened local content operations under Aker’s contract in Ghana.

Dr Gulbrand Wangen, Director of Africa Mid Stream, Norwegian Energy Partners, congratulated Ghana for presenting the biggest delegation to enable them explore business opportunities that would positively impact on the economy of country in the long term.
