An Israeli who was a guest of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry some years back said “If Ghana was Israel, we will fence it”. His remark was on the fact that Ghana has everything it needs to develop.
Mention any natural resource and we have them in abundance including oil. Ghana is not poor, and I repeat we are not poor.
Ghana is a very interesting country where party affinity has blinded people such that they do not vote on issues and prevailing circumstances. Even though things are falling apart in Ghana we can’t say for sure that 2016 will give us a new leader.
Whether there is a change or not i wish to offer the following advice to our next leader. The politics of winner takes all is not helping us. Apart from encouraging corruption, looting and sharing it has caused unnecessary political tension for Ghana.
Mr. Leader kindly revert to an all inclusive government. Ghana remains an agro-based economy therefore we need to engage brains who can advance the gains of agriculture, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster will not be a bad idea for minister of agriculture, Doc., I do not rule you out of 2016.
Dr. Papa Kwesi has over 10 companies that are doing well in Ghana alone, making him a minister of state in charge of trade and industry is not a bad idea, and Dr. I don’t look down on you either. Again I don’t know what you think about Dr. Duffour but having served as the governor of Bank of Ghana and Minister of Finance I believe he has a better understanding of Ghana’s finance than most financial experts in Ghana. Making him an economic adviser will do Ghana a lot of good.
There are a lot of good people in all the other political parties who can contribute to Ghana. You have to bring the spirit of patriotism back. Ghana is for Ghanaians and not the party in power.
Dear leader, I do not seek to teach you your job, but you may have to put in measures to prosecute all corrupt people in government particularly the one preceding yours and your own. Politics is seen as an opportunity to steal rather than serve. The policy of moving perceived corrupt officers to another ministry is seen as an endorsement rather than correction.
Please even if it will take you a whole year to take action against corrupt officials I have your back. Elsewhere corruption is equal to murder. Please kindly put Mr. Martin Amidu in charge of this crusade.
Mr. leader, kindly appoint people who can advice you into the council of state, there are a lot of decisions that have been taken that make me think if the president is being counseled at all. I do not wish to propose names, go for people who are worth their sort and can resign over unpopular decisions.
The issues are many but I know you cannot spend all day reading only my article but, I wish you take a critical look at youth development and employment. It Seems all intervention have been an avenue to loot and share. I nearly forgot, “Dum Sor” should be a thing of the past.
May the best man wins 2016 elections.
