It has come to my notice that some persons in positions of authority and their chooboi fans have made it a campaign strategy to defame people who have openly declared their support for an opponent, especially in the upcoming race for party positions.

I would have thought that we had long learnt our lessons from the irenic and selfless leader, His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He is the leader, who has taught us to remain steadfast in our belief in the message we want to deliver to the electorate. In spite of all the vilification he suffered all these years by people of our fraternity and opponents, he never lost his head; he never lost his cool.

However, what we see in the current campaigns are quite disturbing, especially in the contest for the NPP National Youth Organiser position. Those who have declared for Dominic Edua are being selectively taken on as if they had committed adultery! Likewise in the case of Nana B’s supporters. The to and fro messages on whatsapp that continue to “dingdong” in my ear with frequent recurrence of tasteless arguments are quite nauseating.

How come are we eating each other’s flesh in this manner? Wake up my fellow peeps! Wake up from the spell you seem to be hypnostised by! Recently, my brother, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, declared his support for Dominic Edua just as others have for Nana B. Unknown to him were the repercussions to follow! And they are following! Let me tell you his story, as I understood it to be:

In the run up to the 2012 elections, Hopeson found himself in Tamale. Before then, there was that euphoria of excitement and anxiety. A lady nurse working at the Tamale Teaching Hospital was in contact with him. So she came by his hotel as he was about stepping out to campaign in the remote villages.

Their blood got hot and, you know, emm errr…..the “distin” happened. From what I understood, it was a “gyiena h) gyie” affair without protection! Anyway, some 13 months later, he got a surprise call from the lady telling him about the birth of a little girl. Hopeson, of course, did not understand. He queried her on the strange issue, wondering why she never told him. The lady replied that she was afraid that he would ask her to abort (unlike Hopeson) but she wanted to keep it.

Folks, it is only in the aftermath of a hot bout of sex that most people become professors in mathematics ooo, hmm! Anyway, when the calculation was made, it turned out that birth happened in the 8th month. So Hopeson asked her, as a nurse not as a mother, whether she had ever seen any woman give birth in her 8th month of pregnancy. Of course, she said no.

Later on, she called to tell him that she fell on the stairs and had to be operated otherwise she was going to lose the baby. An afterthought! Isn’t that strange? I am aware that until today she does not want to take a DNA test. Now how is Hopeson supposed to care for the child when the latter’s pedigree is in question?

Anyway, the rest of the story can remain a mystery to avoid further embarrassment to woman and child. However, some people do not respect the privacy of others’ personal matters. They campaign filthily in order to score cheap political points. Don’t they know that the electorate are discerning and are watching what is happening? Unfortunately, the false story was peddled by one Chris-Vincent Agyapong on GhanaCelebrities.com and picked up by folks from our campaign who are serving an agenda!

I was shocked to notice that some messages began flying around asking for the picture of the innocent child so that Hopeson would be held hostage to stop him from campaigning for Dominic Edua. I am sorry to say that these people are just digging their own political graves because Hopeson’s tenacity is resolute, and absolute! Let the people be heartless as to use an innocent child’s dilemma to fight an innocent man whose relation to that child has yet to be established.

Hopeson is waiting for consent to have a DNA test conducted. Lately, some girls are loading innocent men with strange burdens. Hasn’t word made the rounds about such cases suffered by some rich and famous persons? You know what I mean!

Besides, all it would take is an admission of her mistake. Life will turn around for her then, irrespective of whether the child is Hopeson’s or not! This man is not vindictive; quite forgiving if you ask me, but stubborn, at the same time!

Sa ni3 mo y3no, 3be 3nse da!
