The 'Law' Is Same As 'Public Interest'

For many, common sense, public good or interest is not the same as the law. They see the law as an abstract man- made statute that is use as a tool to subjugate citizens. I disagree with such notion.

The law is the same as public good. It's the spiritual embodiment of a nation. It's the soul that keep the people and institutions in one body. It is the collective decision of all to hold it as a guide. Therefore Public interest or good and or common sense is the same as the law in a republic.

We cannot pick and chose which law is in the interest of the public and which one is not in the interest of the public. That's recipe for chaos and an invitation in the realms of absurdity. If we abhor a law, we advocate for a change but through the legislature.

People are calling on the Supreme Court of Ghana to temper the law in favor of public good in their application or adjudication. How do you expect the judges to do that when they're the custodians of the public good or the law. I think the law must be strictly adhered to by the SC.

If the people of Ghana wants the EC to account for their stewardship, a select committee of Parliament is mandated to do that according to law.

Alternatively, the opposition can call for an independent Commission of Enquiry to look into the work of the EC pertaining to election 2020. More importantly the EC can account to the people via media platforms.

You cannot chose the courts and later ask relieves outside the remit of the court. That is playing to the gallery. Rules are rules and only savages throw rules to the gutters and have their way.

For some of us, the decision of the Courts is always final. The only alternative if any is review or appeal. The judges must ignore the political fuss and stick to the law, which is the public interest and embodiment of our dear country.

Angelo in 'Measure for Measure' written by Shakespeare put it in the following legendary words in gold plates... "We must not make a scarecrow of the law, setting it up to fear the birds of prey, and let it keep one shape till custom make it their perch and not their terror”...

The Law is equal to public good🙏🙏🙏.

Adios👌👌👌
