Togolese President, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, will be in Accra on Tuesday August 25, 2009 for a two-day official visit during which he is expected to visit some industrial and energy project sites.

During his visit, the Togolese president and his delegation would hold bilateral discussions with President John Atta Mills on a number of issues including strengthening of ties, cross border concerns, trade and energy.

President Gnassingbé’s visit comes months after President John Atta Mills paid a similar visit to Lome, Togo as part of a three-nation tour that also took him to Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Information, the Togolese president will visit the Akosombo Hydroelectric Dam, the Asogli Power Project site at Kpone near Tema and a Tuna processing factory in Tema.

The visiting Togolese president will also pay courtesy calls on former presidents Jerry Rawlings and John Kufuor.

Faure Gnassingbé, son of former president Gnassingbé Eyadema, has been President of Togo since May 2005.
