Eid Ul Adha is a prominent event on the Islamic calendar with great bodings. As well, the pilgrimage by our brothers (Hajj) to the holy-land of Mecca is sacred and propitious event.
We are glad that, largely the event this year had been successful and hitch-free.
Instructively, about 23% of our nation’s population belonged to this sacred and holy faith.
Contrary to the non-cohesion which existed elsewhere across Africa and the world at large, Ghana had and continues to enjoy unbridled peaceful co-existence not only among the intra-Islamic groups but also the inter-religious bodies much to the glowing admiration of neighbors which has fostered national cohesion and development.
This commonality, the TAYCD-GH commends and hopes our nation, sub-region as well as Africa and the entire global village would be sustained.
Indeed, many are the Islamic and Muslim scholars, experts and technocrats across our national fibre and our body polity who are and continues to play significant and diverse roles towards the forward-match of our nation.
One such persona is the iconic economic, financial and banking expert of international acclaim, Dr.Mahamoudu Bawumia, one of the youthful technocrat who has contributed so enormously towards the successes of the ex-while Kufour administration and Ghana’s progress for that matter.
Infact, barely fifty(50yrs) years old, this Islamic and Muslim faith adherent had been a deputy governor of the national treasury and two(2) times, Vice presidential candidate of the new patriotic party’s candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2008 and 2012.
On the occasion of this momentous Eid Ul Adha celebrations, we wish to celebrate with and wish all Islamic and Muslim sects, a happy and memorable event as we entreat our brothers, particularly the youth in the faith across the continent whose actions and inactions have brought untold pain and debilitating distress to their fellow humankind- including women, children and the socially vulnerable in those societies and nations -to emulate their exemplary Ghanaian compatriots and to seize forthwith the destabilizing endeavors as been perpetrated by the Boko Haram in Nigeria as well as northern Mali and the Sudan.
We all must respect and imbibe the reverend ideals of due process, rule of law and freedom of association-tenets of a constitutional democracy guide our actions in a conservative free-market enterprise environment and ambience.
May Allah Bless us all propitious as we celebrate and make merry!!!
