Kweku Darko, a dealer in electrical and electronic appliances in Takoradi, has done the unthinkable by posting the ‘burial’ pictures of his former lover, Justina Ansah, popularly called Efua, around her shop, though she is alive.
A police source disclosed that a misunderstanding ensured between the two lovebirds, resulting in a breakup of their relationship after Efua had lost a baby she and Darko had a few months ago.
Efua, who is alive and kicking, was shocked to the marrow of her bones when she saw her picture with the inscription “RIP, Efua, you will conceive and die with your baby RIP” on a wall near a sop where she sells fishing gear, near the Takoradi Market Circle.
Suspicious of Darko, her ex-lover, Efua informed her parents and later lodged a formal complaint at the Takoradi Central Police Station.
According to the District Crime Officer, Huseini Musah Awinaba, who confirmed the story, the police arrested Darko who categorically admitted that he posted the “RIP posters of Efua” and that he collected the picture from a photographer, who services his ex-lover patronized.
The photographer (name withheld), who was also arrested and granted bail, confirmed that Darko collected the picture from him but he did not know that he had any sinister motive for collecting it.
Darko photocopied and posted the pictures on walls around the Takoradi Market Circle, with one directly fixed at where Efua sells her fishing gear and other wares.
People who saw the notice thought Efua was dead and prompted her before she saw one of such “Rest In Peace” posters.
Darko told the police that he did so to put fear into his ex-lover who he loved so much, but could not understand why the relationship was ended abruptly.
He added that Efua had jilted him after he had spent a lot.
“I wanted to frighten her because I don’t understand why Efua should break up with me so soon. I didn’t intend to do her any harm or evil but to let her come back,” Darko was reported to have told the police.
Meanwhile, Darko has been granted police inquiry bail while the case is being processed for court.
