A 40-year �old man, Ben Nyame, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 36-year old wife, Mary Anofoah, on a farm at a cottage at Adewu Mensahkrom near Sefwi Akontombra.
Nyame, according to the police, stabbed his wife several times in the stomach for reasons which are still unknown, before escaping last Monday from the scene of the crime.
Briefing the Times here yesterday, a source at the Regional Police Headquarters said at about 3:30pm on Monday March 5, the suspect together with the wife went to the farm at their cottage at Adewu Mensahkrom and on arrival, he was reported to have used a knife to stab Mary to death.
But, as the crime was being committed, one Asare Okru heard the screams of Mary and rushed to the scene.
On arrival he found Mary in a pool of blood with wounds on the stomach the source said, adding that Nyame on seeing the complainant fled into the bush.
The source said later, a search party organized by the community led to the arrest of Nyame who was sent to Akontombra police station and handed him over to the Sefwi Wiaso police.
The body of the deceased, it said, had been deposited at the Sefwi Wiaso Government Hospital pending autopsy.
�Investigations by the police continue for us to know the reason why the suspect killed the wife� the police source said adding that, the knife used by Nyame in committing the alleged crime had been retrieved.
