Two persons were on Wednesday arraigned at an Accra Circuit Court for conspiracy to commit crime and possession of firearms without lawful authority.

The two, Daniel Adekpui, Mason, and Paa Kwesi Amissah, a motor bike operator, were charged for conspiracy to commit crime to wit robbery, while Daniel alone was charged for possessing firearms.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to both charges but were remanded by the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri to reappear on June 2.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Issac Agbemehia told the court that the complainant is the CID headquarters.

He said on May 10, the police gathered intelligence that Daniel and his accomplices at Ablekuma were planning to embark on a robbery expedition within the Greater Accra metropolis.

The prosecution said police started mounting surveillance on the gang, and on May 12, at about 2100 hours Daniel was sighted hopping on a motor bike operated by Paa Kwesi.

He told the court that the surveillance team saw Daniel, hold a swift and brief meeting along the way with two others at a filling station around Agape.

Police Chief Inspector Agbemehia said the team with the help of informants intercepted the accused persons at Lapaz and arrested them.

He said a German made pistol was retrieved from Daniel, and he mentioned one Dida and Zenu as those who gave him the weapon to sell, and that he engaged the services of Paa Kwesi as a means of transport.
